We are excited to welcome The Violence Prevention and Support Program into our membership!
The Center for Transformational Wellness at Green River College is a community resource hub and a connecting point, guiding students and colleagues toward the tools and support they need. They help students balance the challenges of life while pursuing their education, equipping them with resources, skills, and pathways to navigate with confidence and self-determination. By collaborating with faculty, staff, and the wider college community, they work to remove barriers, build capacity, and cultivate equity.
The Violence Prevention and Support Program within the Center works contributes towards these goals in 5 main ways:
- Facilitating conversations, advocacy, training, and awareness programming to educate the wider campus community about the dynamics and impacts of gender-based, sexual violence
- Engaging with community partners and organizations to foster referral pathways and relationships to meet the long-term needs of the campus community;
- Offering paid, trained peer educator positions to student leaders to engage their peers in conversations and skill-building around topics including consent, healthy relationships, boundary setting, media literacy, and bystander intervention;
- Partnering with student-led organizations to develop prevention programming that meets current, relevant needs of our diverse student population;
- Providing confidential, direct, campus-based advocacy services and programs to support the short-term needs of survivors.
Last by not the least, welcome Kate Garvey – our newest Board Member from one of our sexual assault member organizations!
