Sponsoring a Local Candidates Forum
This is an election year with over 6 local positions up for a vote by the public on November 4th, including Seattle Mayor, Seattle City Council, Seattle City Attorney, and King County Executive. We believe in creating opportunities to stay informed about where candidates for elected office stand on issues of housing, gender-based violence, poverty, and human services broadly. To that end, we are thrilled to co-sponsor a human services focused Candidates Forum presented by Seattle Human Services Coalition on October 9th at 5:30pm. This event is free with childcare, ASL interpretation, and light snacks provided. The evening offers a unique chance to hear directly from candidates on the issues you care about and even get a chance to ask your own questions at the event! Persistence in Our Budget Advocacy
The Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence proposed budget recommendations focusing on maintaining existing funding investments in gender-based violence and recommending increases in prevention and intervention services funding. We work collaboratively with our member programs to craft our budget recommendations, and we will remain persistent in our advocacy with our elected leaders. We will need your voice at upcoming public comment opportunities to help our elected leaders and the public understand the needs and gaps you’re seeing at your programs.
