Thanks to incredible collaboration and perseverance led by the Seattle Human Services Coalition — a coalition in which we, the Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence, play a leadership role — we’ve got some exciting news to share. Our region will feel the ripple effects for years to come:
“In July, the Seattle City Council unanimously passed and the mayor signed an ordinance requiring an automatic inflation adjustment on all human service contracts issued by the City of Seattle Human Services Department — those funded by the city, as well as those funded by state or federal “pass-through” dollars.”
What this means right now? It means that as Seattle City Council makes budget decisions about what will/will not receive funding in the coming year, we know that inflation adjustments will happen. And we’ve got more resources to advocate for other very important things, like:
Civil Legal Representation for Sexual Assault Survivors
Full funding for Council Resolution 31900 to address the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls crisis, in partnership with the Seattle Indian Health Board
Comparable Worth Analysis for all Human Service Workers, in partnership with the Seattle Human Services Coalition.
