Hello to new board members….

  • Jennifer Nguyen is the Programs Impact Coordinator at member program, API Chaya. Jennifer is interested in serving on the CEGV Board because the organization’s mission and values align with her personal and professional goals. Additionally, she wants to invest her time into her community with community leaders who are passionate and committed to this work. She believes her over 5 years of experience in nonprofit data and operations roles across admin, development, finance, and programs, will be strong skills to contribute towards CEGV’s organizational effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Sara Coates currently a Legal Advocate at DAWN but has also worked as an advocate in DAWN’s mental health and shelter programs. Sara has a desire to work on the CEGV Board because she wants to support our community further and working in the gender-based violence field is a huge passion for her. She also would like to strengthen her own professional development and connect with other people doing this work. Sara brings expertise in working with survivors of sexual exploitation, LGBTQIA2+ survivors as well as experience with public speaking, fundraising, and networking.
  • Whitney Thoren is a Principal Program Manager, in Executive Development, at Zillow. Whitney would like to join the CEGV Board because her values and past experiences are highly aligned with the work the coalition is doing for our communities. She formally worked in the gender-based violence field for many years and has over 5 years of experience serving as board chair for a Seattle non-profit board. Outside of her above experience, Whitney will bring leadership and organizational development, coaching, board development, and systems thinking skills to her role as a board member for CEGV.
  • Madesyn Cramer-Martinez is a CSO/Community Advocate at DAWN helping survivors access resources throughout King County. She desires to work on the CEGV Board to give back to the community, gain greater insight into the work of a coalition, and contribute to CEGV’s mission. Additionally, she looks forward to being able to connect with other professionals who work in similar areas and to share resources with each other. Madesyn feels that her mindset and approach of putting survivors first will be of great value to CEGV.

Welcome back to board members continuing their terms…

  • Jamie Whalen is starting her third term on the board. She is currently the Community Impact Operations Manager at EVO and graduated with an Executive Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington in 2021. She is also a volunteer advocate at New Beginnings. Professionally, Jamie has led campaigns and partnerships related to women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, global health, and climate change. Her goal is to focus her knowledge of strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, budget management, and program evaluation toward social justice. Jamie is proud of the work the Coalition has accomplished in the past few years and looks forward to seeing how the organization continues to prioritize intersectionality in the gender-based violence movement through partnership.
  • Sam Harkness is an Advocate at UW Bothell and previously worked at a member program, LifeWire, as a Youth and Housing Advocate. He desires to serve on the CEGV board largely for two reasons. One is accountability for white men for the violence and damage that are caused by the patriarchal system. The second is visibly representing white men taking steps to support GBV survivors and organizations while also showcasing anti-violent, equitable, and nurturing qualities. Sam has spent much of his career working with youth and is interested in engaging young people in ending gender-based violence. He also has a strong understanding of the relationship between mainstream and DV homelessness/housing systems

Thank you to outgoing board members!

Manuela Moreira Nascimento, Aushenae Matthews, Anthony Green

We appreciate your time, energy, and commitment to the Coalition and our mission and vision to end gender-based violence.
