We recently had the opportunity to share our concerns on how the City allocates funding in a recent article by Publicola. Check out remarks from the Coalition’s Co-Executive Director, Amarinthia Torres.

Engaging in public policy at the city and county level is one way the Coalition supports member programs and survivors of gender-based violence. Our policy efforts often support increased local funding for the wide array of gender-based violence services provided by member programs.

Last year, we advocated in support of the Mayor’s budget proposal of $2M in ongoing funds to support survivors of commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) and we strongly recommended that any allocation of funds be administered through a fair, transparent and competitive procurement process.

We believe it is of utmost importance that when gender-based violence programs seek government funding, they can rely on a fair, transparent, and equitable competitive process by which those public funds are awarded.

We will continue to assert our values of fairness and transparency in our public policy work and in our collaboration with our member programs!
