The budgeting process for the City of Seattle is well underway and the Coalition’s recommendation for an additional $1.5 million for survivor-driven mobile advocacy was successfully added as an amendment to the budget!

This is a great first step and collectively, we need your help to ensure this $1.5 million stays in the budget.

You can help make this a reality by doing two things right now.

  1. Send an email to these six Councilmembers urging them to support Councilmember Strauss’s amendment (sample language):
    • District 2: tammy.morales@seattle.gov
    • District 3: kshama.sawant@seattle.gov
    • District 4: alex.pederson@seattle.gov
    • District 5: deborah.juarez@seattle.gov
    • District 7: andrew.lewis@seattle.gov
    • District 8: teresa.mosqueda@seattle.gov
  2. Forward this information widely to your staff, Board, and others and urge them to contact their Councilmembers.

Note: Strengthen your impact! If you have a relationship with any of these CM’s, or you live and/or your agency has a location in their district, call or email that person individually and be sure to let them know you are a constituent.

Finally, as we look ahead, sharing your perspective through public comment is the next critical step on the path towards securing these funds and is a powerful way to influence the Council. We need as many folks as possible to give public comment on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, October 25th at 9:30am
  • Tuesday, November 8th at 9:30am.
  • Tuesday, November 15th at 5pm.

If you, a colleague, a board member, or a past participant are interested, please reach out to Amarinthia Torres at amarinthia@endgv.org so we can ensure you have what you need.
