Seattle King County Coalition on Homelessness is hosting a training in collaboration with TeamChild.
It is important for people working with homeless students to understand the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, which guarantees certain support to help families access their public school education while dealing with the destabilization of homelessness.
If you are currently working with families experiencing homelessness, please join the Coalition on Homelessness Wednesday, August 19 from 9-11 a.m. over Zoom for our Helping Homeless Students: McKinney-Vento 101 training presented in partnership with TeamChild. This training will cover:
- How the U.S. Department of Education defines homelessness
- What it means for a student experiencing homelessness to attend their ‘school of origin’
- Details about school districts’ responsibility to provide transportation to students
