BIPOC Preventionists Retreat

November 8 at 10:00 am  –  4:00 pm
Waterfall into a pond with jungle surrounding.

Calling all Black, Native/Indigenous, and POC Prevention workers! CEGV wants to invite you to a day of rest, rejuvenation, and relationship building!

Within the framework of Black-Abolitionist Feminism, our Prevention work is constantly straddling the long work of opposing systemic harm with the immediate and ongoing work of interrupting violence now! We know that vicarious trauma can greatly impact our ability to make decisions that are in alignment with our values of transforming patriarchal cultures requires and that we must be well resourced to do so… “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation and that is an act of political warfare.” – Audre Lorde

On November 8th at the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA, we’ll be gathering for a day to FEEEEL rested and rejuvenated, and relationshiped! This is a day for us to combat the collective vicarious traumas we experience from our struggles against patriarchy as we practice three things…

  • Rest – “an instance or period of relaxing or ceasing to engage in strenuous or stressful activity.”
  • Rejuvenation – “the action or process of giving new energy or vigor to something.”
  • Relationship Building – in this context, “power building.”

So, wear something comfortable and come get your nervous system regulated with us!
