Advocate Training: Supporting Survivors Navigating Debt with Northwest Justice Project

Debt can be a huge barrier when trying to move on from financial abuse and accessing critical resources. Learn how to support survivors with debt, including rental, automobile and medical debt and how to navigate bankruptcy.

This training is intended for advocates, especially housing advocates, at CEGV membership agencies*. The Northwest Justice Project‘s CHEER Unit will be walking us through how to support survivors with debt, understand their rights as consumers, and support in decisions around bankruptcy. This training will provide an overview of Consumer Law, how to navigate Rental Debt, Automobile & Medical Debt, and Bankruptcy. Understanding the financial systems, tools, and pathways can help in working towards financial security and to access other critical resources, such as housing.
