SUMMARY:TJ Cohort | Session 4
DESCRIPTION:Our intention is to continue building practices and systems that prevent gender-based violence\, and go upstream to find our solutions! We’ll spend some time building relationships in a low pressure\, but impact focused environment where we practice the liberation we want to see – norms of care and consideration in our relationships and systems. Our central question in this cohort is – what does Justice for survivors and those we’ve lost look like?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe look forward to answering that question with you!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHO: This meeting is open to prevention educators\, community organizers\, your preventionist aunties\, and other providers from adjacent systems interested in this intersection. \n\n\n\nRegistration Required..Accommodations: ASL interpreters available upon request.WHY: Not every survivor can be served well by “main stream” systems. We want to ensure that our analysis and practices account for criminalized survivors\, immigrant survivors\, trafficking survivors\, disabled survivors\, sex workers\, and other populations often underserved or intentionally disenfranchised. It’s beyond time that we look at the limitations of carceral feminism\, and invest in community-based strategies that prevent harm instead of over-resourcing response. \n\n\n\nWHAT: Once a month we’ll gather to learn how we can plug in to work that addresses root causes of gender based violence in our communities. We’ll talk about what harm looks like in community and systems and practices and conditions we want to build… \n\n\n\n“The existing criminal justice model poses two main questions in the face of social harm: Who did it? How can we punish them? (And increasingly\, how can we make money from it?). Creating safe and healthy communities requires a different set of questions: Who was harmed? How can we facilitate healing? How can we prevent such harm in the future?”–S. Lamble

DESCRIPTION:The National Network to End Domestic Violence is hosting Building Safe Homes: Creating Affordable Housing for Survivors\, a five-part webinar series. \n\n\n\nSurvivors deserve more than a temporary place to stay. SUMMARY:Digging into the Roots of Advocacy: Orientation & Gender-Based Violence Foundation
DESCRIPTION:Digging Into the Roots of Advocacy is a 25-hour multi-session cohort-model learning series designed to strengthen advocates’ confidence\, critical thinking\, and practical skills for supporting survivors of gender-based violence. Rather than focusing only on information\, this series creates space to build relationships\, wrestle with real-world challenges\, and strengthen the collective wisdom that already exists within the advocacy community. \n\n\n\nThis series will examine how identity\, power\, oppression\, and social systems shape survivor experience and the essential need for our advocacy to be rooted in self-determination and trauma informed practice. Throughout this time together\, we will: \n\n\n\n\nExplore the foundations of survivor-centered advocacy\n\n\n\nDig deeper into the dynamics of abuse\, coercive control\, trauma\, and the systems survivors navigate every day.\n\n\n\nLearn to navigate complex situations with greater confidence and compassion.\n\n\n\n\nAdvocates will experience a blend of in-person workshops\, live virtual sessions\, asynchronous practice\, self-reflection\, and peer connection to build not only their knowledge\, but also sustainable advocacy practices that support both survivors and themselves. \n\n\n\nBy the end of the series\, participants won’t just leave with new tools\, they’ll gain connections\, greater confidence\, and a community of advocates committed to learning from and supporting one another. \n\n\n\nFind more details at the Registration link below. Please note that this is the FIRST session of a 4-week learning series. \n\n\n\nRegistration Deadline is August 27th\, 2026.
