SUMMARY:Build Changes' Diversion Training (Day 1 of 2 [virtual])
DESCRIPTION:Required training to access King County’s Centralized Diversion Funds. Please Note: both days are required; the first day is virtual and the second day is in person. \n\n\n\nIn this hands-on practice guided by experienced Coaches\, participants will build their skills in facilitating Diversion/housing problem-solving conversations\, a trauma-informed\, person-centered approach focused on immediate resolution to a housing crisis. Diversion offers flexible\, light-touch services that may be coupled with minimal financial assistance that results in a temporary or permanent housing arrangement outside of the homeless system. \n\n\n\nThis training is intensive\, intended for folks newly getting introduced to Diversion or needing an in-depth refresher. Although it is via Zoom\, active participation will be expected! \n\n\n\nAll participants who complete the training will be certified to access King County’s Centralized Diversion Funds.  \n\n\n\nFuture Diversion training offerings and Learning Circle registrations will be available here in coming months: https://buildingchanges.org/help-build-change/get-trained-on-diversion/ \n\n\n\nQuestions can be directed to dimitri.groce@buildingchanges.org

DESCRIPTION:In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month\, we are exploring the wonderful\, creative\, and diverse field of gender-based violence prevention at our Prevention in Practice: Exploring the Endless Possibilities of Violence Prevention Programming webinar. \n\n\n\nThe world of prevention is chock-full of possibilities\, both in what programming can look like but also in the positive impact prevention can have. When violence prevention is guided by public health approaches\, anti‑oppressive frameworks\, and community organizing\, it becomes more than a set of strategies; it becomes an opportunity to innovate\, strengthen community relationships\, and introduce programming that communities may not have previously accessed or engaged with.  \n\n\n\nBut\, what does that mean in practice? What can and does violence prevention actually look like when we get down to brass tacks?  \n\n\n\nJoin WSCADV / SA Prevention Staff and preventionists from across WA state as we explore different examples of violence prevention programming. From leveraging social media for narrative change\, to working collaboratively with other local resource providers\, to policy change; the world of prevention is vast and vibrant and full of possibilities! DESCRIPTION:“For one of the most vital ways to sustain ourselves is by building communities of resistance\, places where we know we are not alone” -bell hooks \n\n\n\nLet’s get together! Join us for our spring gathering of system-based and community-based gender-based violence advocates to continue to deepen our connections and practice collective care. \n\n\n\nAdvocates spend their days holding space for survivors and carrying the weight of their stories. At the same time\, many of us are carrying the weight of emotional numbing and exhaustion that can come from doing this work in systems that do not offer the same level of care we strive to provide others. We know that sustainable advocacy requires collective care.
