DESCRIPTION:About HHAD \n\n\n\nHousing and Homelessness Advocacy Day (HHAD) is one of the largest annual lobby days at the state capitol in Olympia. Advocates gather from all over Washington to meet in person with their lawmakers and rally for housing justice. \n\n\n\nNo past experience is required! Our team of legislative district leads will guide you through the day\, and you’ll be invited to short trainings over Zoom before HHAD to get briefed on the bills we are supporting and how to effectively talk with lawmakers. \n\n\n\nHHAD is hosted by the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance and the Washington Housing Alliance Action Fund\, and has strong presence and leadership from people directly impacted by housing injustice\, including through the Resident Action Project. \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nThe Housing Alliance does not organize transportation for HHAD\, but if you aren’t able to catch a ride through one of the above transportation options\, you can connect with other HHAD attendees to self-organize carpools here. \n\n\n\nThis form will ask you for your State Legislative District number. This helps us put you in the right group for lawmaker meetings. Look it up at https://app.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder and make a mental note of your State Legislative District number (not your Congressional District number). Most people register with the legislative district where they live\, but you can also use the legislative district where you work if you prefer.  \n\n\n\nRegistering a big group? If you’re bringing 10 people or more\, save some time by using our group registration form. DESCRIPTION:Prevention Through Advocacy is a two-part workshop that supports sexual and domestic violence organizations in rethinking advocate training as a place for violence prevention and movement building in addition to survivor advocacy.In this training\, participants will explore how the advocacy training model has been shaped by professionalization and funding structures\, including the costs and benefits of standardized training that is integrated with medical\, legal\, law enforcement\, social service\, and community systems. \n\n\n\nBoth sessions will be from 10am to Noon via zoom – part one on Thursday\, March 5th\, and part two on Thursday\, March 12th. \n\n\n\nPart 1 will look closely at the tensions this history creates for survivor-centered\, community-driven\, and intersectional work. You will situate your own training practices within the broader movement to end gender-based violence. Through a case study\, participants will explore how professionalization and funding pressures can narrow the scope of advocacy\, pulling organizations away from intersectional\, community-rooted efforts to end violence and toward managing harm within existing systems. Participants will examine how advocate training can invite people into the movement rather than frame the role as limited to a volunteer or job function. \n\n\n\nPart 2 will shift to concrete strategies for designing and facilitating movement-aligned advocate training that builds community\, shared purpose\, and solidarity among advocates and staff. It concludes with guided reflection and planning to identify specific\, realistic changes participants can make to better integrate prevention theory and movement grounding into their training programs. \n\n\n\nLOCATION: Via Zoom – link will be sent to registrants the day before. \n\n\n\nThis event is open to CEGV Membership\, advocates\, and community organizers. SUMMARY:Under Oath: Responding to Requests for Testimony
DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom \n\n\n\nTherapists are frequently asked to provide testimony about their services and opinions regarding individuals\, couples\, children\, and families with whom they have worked. Attorneys\, evaluators\, and/or the courts want to know if therapy was effective\, if there were signs of domestic violence\, what were the diagnoses\, and other salient factors. \n\n\n\nClients may or may not want you to testify. You may or may not want to testify. Whether or not you choose to provide testimony\, there is almost certainly an impact on the therapeutic relationship. Join Fran Schopick and Tracee Parker to explore the types of testimony that therapists might be asked to provide\, the implications of providing testimony\, and the basic skills of testifying when required. \n\n\n\nAs a result of this workshop\, participants will:· Understand the three types of testimony that may be requested of therapists in family court.· Be able to develop and prepare for a thoughtful response to testimony requests from clients and others.· Have a basic knowledge of how and how not to respond to questions while providing testimony. \n\n\n\nAbout the Presenters: \n\n\n\nFrances Schopick\, JD\, MSW is an attorney with an extensive background in clinical Social Work and psychiatric research. She served on the Psychiatry Faculties at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC and Harvard Medical School in Boston\, MA to research the underlying contributors seen in people with mood\, personality\, and psychotic disorders. She worked clinically with perpetrators as well as survivors of domestic violence and coercive control. Her experience has given her insights into the dynamics of high conflict families as well as the complex and nuanced challenges posed to the counselors who work with them.Now an attorney in WA State\, Fran represents health care providers undergoing Board investigations. To help licensees avoid such complaints\, Fran develops Disclosure and Informed Consent resources tailored to individual practice\, so that providers can simultaneously minimize counselor risk and maximize client care. Fran provides legal consultation to agencies\, counselors\, and other healthcare providers working with individual adults\, children\, couples\, and families\, often in “high conflict” situations. Fran speaks nationally on the importance of well-administered Informed Consent as well as the many factors that can affect clinical care. \n\n\n\nTracee Parker\, Psy.D. is the Justice for Families Project Manager at the Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence\, where she has co-authored (with Dr. Anne Ganley) Intimate Partner Violence Impact Assessment – A process for collecting\, analyzing\, and presenting information. Her background includes domestic violence advocacy\, supervised visitation for domestic violence cases\, domestic violence perpetrator treatment\, training and consultation\, mediation\, nonviolent conflict resolution training\, and expert testimony. Her doctoral research focus was post-separation battering via access to children and working with men who batter. SUMMARY:Navigating SNAP: Program Basics and New HR1 Requirements
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness and presented in partnership with Solid Ground’s Benefits Legal Assistance Team. \n\n\n\nThis free\, virtual\, two-hour training is geared towards frontline providers working with people and families experiencing homelessness or with very low incomes. Come learn how best to support the people you work with in applying for and maintaining SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Access Program) Benefits with the new requirements from HR1. This training will cover a SNAP overview including eligibility requirements\, how to apply for benefits\, work requirements\, and additional programs available to SNAP recipients\, such as the WA state Food Assistance Program (FAP). Plus\, learn tips on how to avoid benefit pitfalls that can result in losing benefits and hear about the hearing and appeals process. This training is facilitated by Solid Ground’s Benefits Legal Assistance team. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss food access programs with experts.

DESCRIPTION:In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month\, we are exploring the wonderful\, creative\, and diverse field of gender-based violence prevention at our Prevention in Practice: Exploring the Endless Possibilities of Violence Prevention Programming webinar. \n\n\n\nThe world of prevention is chock-full of possibilities\, both in what programming can look like but also in the positive impact prevention can have. When violence prevention is guided by public health approaches\, anti‑oppressive frameworks\, and community organizing\, it becomes more than a set of strategies; it becomes an opportunity to innovate\, strengthen community relationships\, and introduce programming that communities may not have previously accessed or engaged with.  \n\n\n\nBut\, what does that mean in practice? What can and does violence prevention actually look like when we get down to brass tacks?  \n\n\n\nJoin WSCADV / SA Prevention Staff and preventionists from across WA state as we explore different examples of violence prevention programming. From leveraging social media for narrative change\, to working collaboratively with other local resource providers\, to policy change; the world of prevention is vast and vibrant and full of possibilities! We know that sustainable advocacy requires collective care. DESCRIPTION:Original Studios\, Event Photography\n\n\n\n\nYa’ll\, what a lovely evening together! We heard from so many folks that the vibes were relaxed\, joyful\, and authentic at our annual fundraiser and community event\, Celebration for Change\, on May 7\, 2026.  \n\n\n\nWe don’t disagree! Thank you to everyone who co-created that vibe with us. Over 130 people including 36 children attended Celebration this year and supported our work of promoting equitable relationships and building safe and just communities where all people thrive. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt was a special experience to listen to live folk\, blues\, and soul music together. Thank you to the incredible musical talent of The Rhapsody Project\, a local youth program dedicated to celebrating heritage and building community through music. We also want to thank Off the Rez\, for sharing their celebration of Indigenous heritage through nourishing food for us all to enjoy throughout the evening. \n\n\n\nOverall\, there was so much care put into celebrating the Coalition and our community of folks committed to ending gender-based violence. \n\n\n\n\nIf you couldn’t make it this year\, check out some of the photos from the evening\, read a recap of the event HERE \, feel free to donate to support our work\, and we’ll see you at next year’s Celebration!

DESCRIPTION:As the founder of EndTAB (End Technology-Enabled Abuse) and The Tech-Savvy Parent\, Adam’s work is characterized by his dedication to addressing the existing and future threats posed by technology to youth and victims of gender-based violence. He has written and presented extensively on cyberstalking\, technology-enabled abuse\, image-based abuse \, and the threats posed by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. Adam has advised the White House Task Force to Address Online Abuse and Harassment\, is a special advisor to the Coalition Against Stalkerware\, and sits on the World Economic Forum’s Digital Justice Advisory Committee. He has worked with technology companies like Bumble\, Headspace\, and Ring to improve the safety and well-being of victims of gender-based violence. Adam is a licensed attorney and earned his B.A. from UC Santa Barbara and his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law and UC College of the Law\, San Francisco.

SUMMARY:Reflections of Resilience: Understanding the Impact of Survival Exposure on Advocacy Practice 
DESCRIPTION:The work you do is powerful AND heavy.   Every story\, every call\, every moment of connection leaves an imprint. One that can stay with us in ways we don’t always notice or fully understand in the moment.  Over time\, these experiences can shape how we feel\, respond\, set boundaries\, and make decisions in our work\, often without us realizing it.  These reactions are common in advocacy work\, but they are rarely talked about openly or explored as part of our professional practice. And in a field that often expects us to keep going\, it can start to feel like we are meant to carry this work alone. We are not.  Reflections of Resilience is a highly interactive\, full-day training designed specifically for advocates supporting survivors of gender-based violence. This training explores secondary trauma/stress as a form of countertransference\, helping participants understand their responses to stress and survival exposure as meaningful signals that can be used to support their well-being and strengthen their advocacy practice.  Together\, we will explore how these experiences can serve as a mirror for self-awareness and professional growth\, offering insight into our values\, strengths\, vulnerabilities\, and patterns in advocacy.  We will examine how core beliefs\, lived experiences\, and internal narratives can shape our automatic reactions\, often influencing how we interpret situations\, respond to survivors\, and navigate boundaries without conscious awareness.  This training emphasizes experiential learning and real-world application\, ensuring participants leave not only with insight\, but with tools they can immediately integrate into their advocacy.Through hands-on exercises\, guided reflection\, discussion\, and practical practices\, participants will explore

Our central question in this cohort is – what does Justice for survivors and those we’ve lost look like?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe look forward to answering that question with you!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHO: This meeting is open to prevention educators\, community organizers\, your preventionist aunties\, and other providers from adjacent systems interested in this intersection. \n\n\n\nRegistration Required..Accommodations: ASL interpreters available upon request.WHY: Not every survivor can be served well by “main stream” systems. We want to ensure that our analysis and practices account for criminalized survivors\, immigrant survivors\, trafficking survivors\, disabled survivors\, sex workers\, and other populations often underserved or intentionally disenfranchised. It’s beyond time that we look at the limitations of carceral feminism\, and invest in community-based strategies that prevent harm instead of over-resourcing response. \n\n\n\nWHAT: Once a month we’ll gather to learn how we can plug in to work that addresses root causes of gender based violence in our communities. SUMMARY:TJ Cohort 2026 | Session 1
DESCRIPTION:Our intention is to continue building practices and systems that prevent gender-based violence\, and go upstream to find our solutions! We’ll spend some time building relationships in a low pressure\, but impact focused environment where we practice the liberation we want to see – norms of care and consideration in our relationships and systems. Our central question in this cohort is – what does Justice for survivors and those we’ve lost look like? \n\n\n\nWe look forward to answering that question with you! \n\n\n\nLOCATION:Zoom – link will be sent to registered participants prior to our first session. \n\n\n\nWHO: This meeting is open to prevention educators\, community organizers\, your preventionist aunties\, and other providers from adjacent systems interested in this intersection. \n\n\n\nRegistration Required..Accommodations: ASL interpreters available upon request.WHY: Not every survivor can be served well by “main stream” systems. We want to ensure that our analysis and practices account for criminalized survivors\, immigrant survivors\, trafficking survivors\, disabled survivors\, sex workers\, and other populations often underserved or intentionally disenfranchised. It’s beyond time that we look at the limitations of carceral feminism\, and invest in community-based strategies that prevent harm instead of over-resourcing response. \n\n\n\nWHAT: Once a month we’ll gather to learn how we can plug in to work that addresses root causes of gender based violence in our communities. We’ll talk about what harm looks like in community and systems and practices and conditions we want to build… \n\n\n\n“The existing criminal justice model poses two main questions in the face of social harm: Who did it? How can we punish them? (And increasingly\, how can we make money from it?). Creating safe and healthy communities requires a different set of questions: Who was harmed? How can we facilitate healing? How can we prevent such harm in the future?”–S. Lamble

SUMMARY:Seeing What Often Goes Unseen: Identifying and Supporting Survivors of Exploitation
DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn how to best support survivors of Commercial Sexual Exploitation! \n\n\n\nThis training is intended both for those experienced in supporting CSE survivors and those new to this work: social service providers\, public health workers\, housing providers\, and gender-based violence advocates that may not have expertise in CSE.  \n\n\n\nThis event is co-hosted by the City of Seattle\, King County Veterans\, Seniors\, and Human Services Levy\, and the Coalition Ending Gender-based Violence. Facilitators are: Audrey Baedke\, Jasmine Conway\, and Sarah Ciambrone. The training will be followed by a panel of local CSE providers to discuss their work and learned strategies\, including recent responses to the potential rise of CSE during FIFA/World Cup.Training Topics: \n\n\n\n\nWhat is CSE: How to recognize it? Who is affected?\n\n\n\nHow to assist survivors in accessing resources?\n\n\n\nWhat is the crisis response for CSE?\n\n\n\nWorking with specific populations such as immigrants\, LGBTQIA+\, youth (especially minors).\n\n\n\nHousing and shelter resources for survivors of CSE\n\n\n\nHow to work with those affected by CSE who may not identify as survivors or wish to leave “the life”\n\n\n\nHow CSE interplays within Human Trafficking?
