SUMMARY:Seattle Book Launch "How to End Family Policing: From Outrage to Action"
DESCRIPTION:In a study titled\, “There’s No One I Can Trust”\, 50% of domestic violence survivors with direct experience of mandated reports said the mandated report made things much worse. Only 3% stated it made things much better. Additionally\, over 1 in 3 survivors stated they have not asked for help for fear of mandated reporting. \n\n\n\nWe must take seriously the harms of mandatory reporting practices on survivors\, especially those most impacted such as youth\, BIPOC\, and LGBTQ+ survivors. Our collective work requires upholding survivor self-determination. \n\n\n\nWe are honored to be a sponsor of the upcoming book launch of How to End Family Policing: From Outrage to Action (Haymarket). Join us as we hear from authors Shannon Perez-Darby and Shawn Koyano\, along with community organizers Såhi Velasco and Sully Sullivan\, for an evening of reading\, conversation\, and engagement! \n\n\n\nCopies of the book will be available to purchase at the event. For questions about the book contact Shannon@accountablecommunities.com \n\n\n\nThe library can provide accommodations for people with disabilities at library events. Please contact LEAP at least seven days before the event to request accommodations. \n\n\n\nNote-The library closes at 6:00 p.m. It will reopen at 6:15 pm for the event. Seating is first come\, first served for registered participants. All Library programs are free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Housing & Homelessness Advocacy Day
DESCRIPTION:About HHAD \n\n\n\nHousing and Homelessness Advocacy Day (HHAD) is one of the largest annual lobby days at the state capitol in Olympia. Advocates gather from all over Washington to meet in person with their lawmakers and rally for housing justice. \n\n\n\nNo past experience is required! Our team of legislative district leads will guide you through the day\, and you’ll be invited to short trainings over Zoom before HHAD to get briefed on the bills we are supporting and how to effectively talk with lawmakers. \n\n\n\nHHAD is hosted by the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance and the Washington Housing Alliance Action Fund\, and has strong presence and leadership from people directly impacted by housing injustice\, including through the Resident Action Project. \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nThe Housing Alliance does not organize transportation for HHAD\, but if you aren’t able to catch a ride through one of the above transportation options\, you can connect with other HHAD attendees to self-organize carpools here. \n\n\n\nThis form will ask you for your State Legislative District number. This helps us put you in the right group for lawmaker meetings. Look it up at https://app.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder and make a mental note of your State Legislative District number (not your Congressional District number). Most people register with the legislative district where they live\, but you can also use the legislative district where you work if you prefer.  \n\n\n\nRegistering a big group? If you’re bringing 10 people or more\, save some time by using our group registration form. If your group is smaller than 10\, please register individually.  \n\n\n\nASL and Spanish interpretation will be provided during check-in\, at the rally\, in lawmaker meetings\, and at the virtual prep sessions before HHAD. Please let us know if you will use ASL or Spanish interpretation so we can be sure your specific lawmaker meetings have an interpreter.  \n\n\n\nOur friends at Waters Meet Action Fund are generously providing two buses to HHAD from Eastern and Central Washington as well as box dinners for the ride home. Riders can board in Spokane\, Moses Lake\, or Ellensburg. Wheelchair spaces are available. Sign up here for a free spot on the bus.

SUMMARY:Supporting Survivor Defendants
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a training webinar exploring ways to support survivors who are navigating the criminal legal system as defendants. \n\n\n\nMany people who are incarcerated have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault prior to system involvement. This training will provide context for how survivors become criminalized\, explore advocacy approaches across different court systems\, and share strategies for building effective relationships with defense attorneys and therapeutic courts. \n\n\n\nParticipants will also examine organizational barriers that may limit support for survivor-defendants and identify opportunities for more inclusive legal advocacy. Training will focus on practical strategies\, not legal advice. \n\n\n\nAdvocates of all levels of experience are welcome!

SUMMARY:Prevention In Practice: Exploring the Endless Possibilities of Violence Prevention Programming
DESCRIPTION:In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month\, we are exploring the wonderful\, creative\, and diverse field of gender-based violence prevention at our Prevention in Practice: Exploring the Endless Possibilities of Violence Prevention Programming webinar. \n\n\n\nThe world of prevention is chock-full of possibilities\, both in what programming can look like but also in the positive impact prevention can have. When violence prevention is guided by public health approaches\, anti‑oppressive frameworks\, and community organizing\, it becomes more than a set of strategies; it becomes an opportunity to innovate\, strengthen community relationships\, and introduce programming that communities may not have previously accessed or engaged with.  \n\n\n\nBut\, what does that mean in practice? What can and does violence prevention actually look like when we get down to brass tacks?  \n\n\n\nJoin WSCADV / SA Prevention Staff and preventionists from across WA state as we explore different examples of violence prevention programming. From leveraging social media for narrative change\, to working collaboratively with other local resource providers\, to policy change; the world of prevention is vast and vibrant and full of possibilities! Let’s explore what’s possible together!  \n\n\n\nWe’re excited and honored to host and feature the work of preventionists from: \n\n\n\nLutheran Community Services NW (Spokane) \n\n\n\nEmergency Support Shelter  \n\n\n\nMalawi Seattle Association \n\n\n\nKalispel Tribe of Indians \n\n\n\nYWCA Clark County

SUMMARY:Frequency of Care: 2026 King County Trans Resource and Referral Guide Launch Party
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to invite you to Frequency of Care\, the official launch celebration for the 2026 King County Trans Resource & Referral Guide\, taking place on June 20\, 2026\, at KEXP Gathering Space. \n\n\n\nOver the past year\, community members\, service providers\, advocates\, artists\, and organizations from across King County have come together to help shape this guide. What emerged is more than a reflection of the relationships\, knowledge\, and systems of care that sustain trans and gender-diverse communities every day. \n\n\n\nAt a time when transgender communities are facing increasing barriers to healthcare\, housing\, safety\, legal support\, and basic needs\, access to trusted information and community connections has never been more important. This guide exists because of the collective efforts of people and organizations who continue to show up for our communities. \n\n\n\nFrequency of Care is an opportunity to celebrate that work together. \n\n\n\nThe evening will feature live performances by trans artists\, interactive storytelling\, community activations\, food and beverages\, and opportunities to connect with the many community members\, & organizations helping make care possible throughout our region. \n\n\n\nMost importantly\, this event is a chance to honor the collective network of care represented in these pages and to recognize the people behind the resources. \n\n\n\nWe hope you will join us in celebrating this milestone and the shared commitment to ensuring trans communities have access to the support\, services\, and connections they deserve.

SUMMARY:Rural and Interfamilial Trafficking Virtual Training Event
DESCRIPTION:There is an increased public awareness around the prevalence\, impact and salience of sex trafficking\, human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. When allegations of trafficking and exploitation are made known to law enforcement and social services\, the forensic interview process can be an effective tool for gathering victim statements and assessing what has occurred. This training will discuss the specifics of working with victims of trafficking and exploitation and offer guidance for conducting forensic interviews with this population. Moving cases from the investigation stage to prosecution is particularly difficult in the context of human trafficking\, and successful human trafficking investigations require a unique approach. This workshop also addresses potential avenues of corroboration\, technology-facilitated human trafficking\, proactive strategies\, and investigative resources.
