DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the Washington State Advanced Diversion Consultants & Trainers\, Africatown International\, and the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund\, Building Changes is coordinating intensive two-day Diversion trainings. These two-day trainings are free and will be offered multiple times in 2025. \n\n\n\nWhat is Diversion: Diversion offers flexible\, light-touch services that may be coupled with minimal financial assistance that results in a temporary or permanent housing arrangement outside of the homeless system. \n\n\n\nWho should attend: These trainings are accessible for everyone but will have particular relevance for homeless/housing assistance providers\, community-based partners working with people seeking services\, and representatives from systems adjacent to our homeless response system. Right now we are prioritizing trainings for providers working in King County\, WA. If you are outside of King County and would like to inquire about available spots in upcoming trainings\, or if you are interested in scheduling a separate training for your community\, please contact Dimitri Groce\, Director of Practice Innovation at Building Changes. \n\n\n\nWhat will be covered: In this training\, participants will learn the Diversion approach and apply their skills through hands-on practice guided by experienced Diversion Coaches. The Diversion approach is intended to be a fast intervention applicable at any step in helping individuals and families identify immediate\, safe housing arrangements. It can be coupled with financial assistance for temporary or permanent housing arrangements outside of the homeless system. \n\n\n\nFormat: Each training is two days\, taking place 9:30 am–3:30 pm each day. Day 1 of the training will be virtual\, and Day 2 will be in person at Pacific Tower in Seattle.

DESCRIPTION:In a study titled\, “There’s No One I Can Trust”\, 50% of domestic violence survivors with direct experience of mandated reports said the mandated report made things much worse. Only 3% stated it made things much better. Additionally\, over 1 in 3 survivors stated they have not asked for help for fear of mandated reporting. \n\n\n\nWe must take seriously the harms of mandatory reporting practices on survivors\, especially those most impacted such as youth\, BIPOC\, and LGBTQ+ survivors. Our collective work requires upholding survivor self-determination.  \n\n\n\nWe are honored to be a sponsor of the upcoming book launch of How to End Family Policing: From Outrage to Action (Haymarket). Join us as we hear from authors Shannon Perez-Darby and Shawn Koyano\, along with community organizers Såhi Velasco and Sully Sullivan\, for an evening of reading\, conversation\, and engagement!  \n\n\n\nCopies of the book will be available to purchase at the event. DESCRIPTION:About HHAD \n\n\n\nHousing and Homelessness Advocacy Day (HHAD) is one of the largest annual lobby days at the state capitol in Olympia. Advocates gather from all over Washington to meet in person with their lawmakers and rally for housing justice. \n\n\n\nNo past experience is required! Our team of legislative district leads will guide you through the day\, and you’ll be invited to short trainings over Zoom before HHAD to get briefed on the bills we are supporting and how to effectively talk with lawmakers. \n\n\n\nHHAD is hosted by the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance and the Washington Housing Alliance Action Fund\, and has strong presence and leadership from people directly impacted by housing injustice\, including through the Resident Action Project. \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nThe Housing Alliance does not organize transportation for HHAD\, but if you aren’t able to catch a ride through one of the above transportation options\, you can connect with other HHAD attendees to self-organize carpools here. \n\n\n\nThis form will ask you for your State Legislative District number. This helps us put you in the right group for lawmaker meetings. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness and presented in partnership with Solid Ground’s Benefits Legal Assistance Team. \n\n\n\nThis free\, virtual\, two-hour training is geared towards frontline providers working with people and families experiencing homelessness or with very low incomes. Come learn how best to support the people you work with in applying for and maintaining SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Access Program) Benefits with the new requirements from HR1. This training will cover a SNAP overview including eligibility requirements\, how to apply for benefits\, work requirements\, and additional programs available to SNAP recipients\, such as the WA state Food Assistance Program (FAP). Plus\, learn tips on how to avoid benefit pitfalls that can result in losing benefits and hear about the hearing and appeals process. This training is facilitated by Solid Ground’s Benefits Legal Assistance team. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss food access programs with experts.

DESCRIPTION:As the founder of EndTAB (End Technology-Enabled Abuse) and The Tech-Savvy Parent\, Adam’s work is characterized by his dedication to addressing the existing and future threats posed by technology to youth and victims of gender-based violence. He has written and presented extensively on cyberstalking\, technology-enabled abuse\, image-based abuse \, and the threats posed by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. Adam has advised the White House Task Force to Address Online Abuse and Harassment\, is a special advisor to the Coalition Against Stalkerware\, and sits on the World Economic Forum’s Digital Justice Advisory Committee. He has worked with technology companies like Bumble\, Headspace\, and Ring to improve the safety and well-being of victims of gender-based violence. Adam is a licensed attorney and earned his B.A. from UC Santa Barbara and his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law and UC College of the Law\, San Francisco.
