SUMMARY:Spring 2026 Advocate Gathering
DESCRIPTION:“For one of the most vital ways to sustain ourselves is by building communities of resistance\, places where we know we are not alone” -bell hooks \n\n\n\nLet’s get together! Join us for our spring gathering of system-based and community-based gender-based violence advocates to continue to deepen our connections and practice collective care. \n\n\n\nAdvocates spend their days holding space for survivors and carrying the weight of their stories. At the same time\, many of us are carrying the weight of emotional numbing and exhaustion that can come from doing this work in systems that do not offer the same level of care we strive to provide others. We know that sustainable advocacy requires collective care. When advocates have space to process\, reconnect\, and restore\, we strengthen our ability to continue showing up for survivors and one another.  \n\n\n\nDuring our time together\, advocates will rotate through “restoration stations” and will get the opportunity to sample various creative ways to connect with each other and regulate their nervous systems.  \n\n\n\nAgenda:1:00 – 1:30 Welcome\, Intro\, Grounding1:30 – 1:50 Organization highlights \n\n\n\nBREAK2:00 – 3:45 Main Topic: “The Art of Restoration: Centering Collective Care and Self-Preservation”Snacks\, sweets\, and coffee/tea will be provided.Planned in partnership with: The Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence\, DVHopeline (New Beginnings)\, the King County Protection Order Advocacy Program. \n\n\n\n*Please note that while targeted for gender-based violence direct service staff at our membership organizations\, this event is open to staff at all levels across our membership!*ASL interpreters available. DESCRIPTION:We are hosting an interactive in-person training on storytelling and communication. Join us! \n\n\n\nHow do we build narrative power? The narratives around us shape how people make sense of issues\, what they see as possible\, and whether they feel moved to act. When narratives shift\, they can open space for new solutions\, challenge harmful assumptions\, and help communities see shared possibilities.  \n\n\n\nWe are teaming up with El Centro de la Raza and reimagine collective to bring this conversation to our community. This is the first time reimagine collective is hosting a live Reimagine Insights session in Seattle\, Washington\, so you don’t want to miss it! \n\n\n\nYou can expect time to network and shared tools for developing values-based messages that connect with people and inspire action.
