DESCRIPTION:Learn how to better support trans survivors in our communities through the Training Series: Supporting Trans Survivors of Gender-Based Violence. This is the first of three sessions in this series. \n\n\n\nThis series provides an overview of gender-based violence (GBV) in Two-Spirit\, Trans\, and Gender Diverse communities\, highlighting the scale of the issue through statistics\, research\, and the intersections of race\, class\, disability\, and neurodiversity. It explores the concept of trans misogyny\, including its role in the current political climate and the impact of widespread anti-trans misinformation\, while also equipping participants with foundational Trans 101 language and tools for continued learning. By the end of the training\, participants will understand the risk factors and barriers trans survivors face\, define trans misogyny within the GBV movement\, and feel more confident in implementing best practices to support Two-Spirit\, Trans\, and Gender Diverse survivors. \n\n\n\nASL Interpretation will be available. \n\n\n\nSession 3 Learning Objectives: \n\n\n\n\nHave tools to evaluate organizational policies for equity \n\n\n\nHave tools and language on how to ask trans sensitive questions on surveys & program evaluations.\n\n\n\nUnderstand key ways to engage in advocacy skills within our organizations and with survivors – i.e. affirming experiences\, connecting to larger struggles of gbv movement\, ending isolation of individuals\, \n\n\n\nHave tools to navigate uncomfortable conversations or invasive questions by colleagues or other program participants about trans people.\n\n\n\n\nCEUs Available.
