SUMMARY:Digging Into the Roots of Advocacy: Foundations in Gender-Based Violence and Survivor Centered Advocacy (virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Digging Into the Roots of Advocacy is a multi-session learning series designed to strengthen advocates’ confidence\, critical thinking\, and practical skills for supporting survivors of gender-based violence. Rather than focusing only on information\, this series creates space to build relationships\, wrestle with real-world challenges\, and strengthen the collective wisdom that already exists within the advocacy community. \n\n\n\nThis series will examine how identity\, power\, oppression\, and social systems shape survivor experience and the essential need for our advocacy to be rooted in self-determination and trauma informed practice. Throughout this time together\, we will: \n\n\n\n\nExplore the foundations of survivor-centered advocacy\n\n\n\nDig deeper into the dynamics of abuse\, coercive control\, trauma\, and the systems survivors navigate every day.\n\n\n\nLearn to navigate complex situations with greater confidence and compassion.\n\n\n\n\nAdvocates will experience a blend of live virtual sessions\, in-person workshops\, self-reflection\, and peer connection to build not only their knowledge\, but also sustainable advocacy practices that support both survivors and themselves. \n\n\n\nBy the end of the series\, participants won’t just leave with new tools\, they’ll gain connections\, greater confidence\, and a community of advocates committed to learning from and supporting one another. \n\n\n\nRegistration Deadline is October 2nd\, 2026. SUMMARY:Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Time is Now: Centering survivors in our work to end DV  \n\n\n\nJoin the Seattle Human Services Department’s Mayor’s Office on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault; the Coalition Ending Gender Based Violence; King County’s Veterans\, Seniors\, Human Services Levy (VSHSL); and the Seattle Women’s Commission\, for a gathering to bring community together\, raise awareness\, and celebrate those leading the fight to provide healing\, safety and support for survivors. \n\n\n\nWhile Seattle and King County lead the way in Domestic Violence (DV) response and overall violent crime has declined\, DV continues to rise locally. Funding cuts\, gender inequalities\, financial abuse\, and regressive cultural shifts all contribute to increasing violence. The time is now to put survivors first and strengthen our efforts to end DV. \n\n\n\nDomestic Violence Awareness Month is a national annual campaign held each October to unite organizations and individuals in uplifting survivors’ voices and experiences. This year’s convening falls on Purple Thursday. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple clothing or accessories to show their support for survivors. \n\n\n\nLunch will be provided.

SUMMARY:New Day Database Listening Session
DESCRIPTION:Background: The New Day Database is a comprehensive resource database of gender-based violence services across King County and adjacent counties. Launched in 2021 alongside the DVHopeline and the Domestic Violence Coordinated Housing Access Point (DVCHAP)\, the goal was to give gender-based violence advocates an extra tool to support survivors they were working with. The vision of the database was to strengthen relationships and communication across agencies\, streamline referral processes\, and reduce barriers for survivors seeking safety and stability. \n\n\n\nSince then\, the Coalition has struggled to keep up with the outreach necessary to maintain visibility\, along with keeping up with the rapid changes in staffing and programming at organizational partners to maintain accurate resource information. As a result\, the New Day Database has suffered from lack of utilization and decreasing relevance and usefulness. \n\n\n\nThis year\, despite receiving short term funding to maintain and update the database\, the Coalition Ending Gender Based Violence has determined that we will be sunsetting the New Day Database at the end of 2026. This is both due to lack of ongoing funding and consistently low interest and utilization in this tool. \n\n\n\nWHAT: Please join us for a discussion about the New Day Database and to re-evaluate the need for a comprehensive directory of domestic violence\, sexual assault\, human trafficking\, and commercial sexual exploitation (community advocacy and housing) services across King County. In this last listening session before the resource database sunsets\, let’s confirm what’s working and hasn’t worked about this resource database tool and hear about possibilities outside of New Day. \n\n\n\nWHEN: Friday\, Oct 16 2026 10-11am via ZoomWHO: This meeting is open to all current New Day Database partners\, Coalition membership organizations\, and all folks within the gender-based violence service provider landscape. Whether you have ever used the New Day Database as a tool in your advocacy or not\, we encourage you to join us to discuss what tools like the resource database could be useful to you. \n\n\n\nContact Lea Aromin lea@endgv.org for any questions.

SUMMARY:NNEDV's Strengthening the Structure: Learning from Survivor-Centered Housing Models
DESCRIPTION:The National Network to End Domestic Violence is hosting Building Safe Homes: Creating Affordable Housing for Survivors\, a five-part webinar series. \n\n\n\nSurvivors deserve more than a temporary place to stay. While emergency shelter remains a critical lifeline\, long-term safety and stability often depend on access to affordable and permanent housing. This webinar series explores how communities can strengthen partnerships\, leverage housing resources\, and advance survivor-centered strategies that help survivors move beyond crisis toward long-term stability. \n\n\n\nDesigned for domestic violence coalitions\, victim service providers\, housing partners\, and other allied professionals\, the series will feature practical strategies\, promising practices\, and real-world examples from across the country. Whether you’re just beginning to explore affordable housing opportunities or are looking to strengthen existing partnerships\, we hope you’ll join us. \n\n\n\nThe webinar series will be held on the following dates: \n\n\n\nAugust 18\, 2026 | Preparing the Ground: Understanding the Need for Affordable and Permanent Housing for Survivors \n\n\n\nSeptember 1\, 2026 | Laying the Foundation: Developing and Preserving Affordable Housing for Survivors \n\n\n\nSeptember 22\, 2026 | Building with Care: Protecting Privacy and Promoting Safety Through Survivor-Centered Housing Practices \n\n\n\nOctober 20\, 2026 | Strengthening the Structure: Learning from Survivor-Centered Housing Models \n\n\n\nNovember 10\, 2026 | Opening the Doors: Sustaining Partnerships and Expanding Housing Opportunities for Survivors \n\n\n\nRegistration is now open! Once you register\, you’ll automatically be registered for the entire webinar series\, so there’s no need to register separately for each session. If you’re unable to attend one of the sessions live\, you’ll remain registered for the remaining webinars in the series.

SUMMARY:TJ Cohort | Session 5
DESCRIPTION:Our intention is to continue building practices and systems that prevent gender-based violence\, and go upstream to find our solutions! We’ll spend some time building relationships in a low pressure\, but impact focused environment where we practice the liberation we want to see – norms of care and consideration in our relationships and systems. Our central question in this cohort is – what does Justice for survivors and those we’ve lost look like?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe look forward to answering that question with you!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHO: This meeting is open to prevention educators\, community organizers\, your preventionist aunties\, and other providers from adjacent systems interested in this intersection. \n\n\n\nRegistration Required..Accommodations: ASL interpreters available upon request.WHY: Not every survivor can be served well by “main stream” systems. We want to ensure that our analysis and practices account for criminalized survivors\, immigrant survivors\, trafficking survivors\, disabled survivors\, sex workers\, and other populations often underserved or intentionally disenfranchised. It’s beyond time that we look at the limitations of carceral feminism\, and invest in community-based strategies that prevent harm instead of over-resourcing response. \n\n\n\nWHAT: Once a month we’ll gather to learn how we can plug in to work that addresses root causes of gender based violence in our communities. We’ll talk about what harm looks like in community and systems and practices and conditions we want to build… \n\n\n\n“The existing criminal justice model poses two main questions in the face of social harm: Who did it? How can we punish them? (And increasingly\, how can we make money from it?). Creating safe and healthy communities requires a different set of questions: Who was harmed? How can we facilitate healing? How can we prevent such harm in the future?”–S. Lamble
