Part-Time Job Opening at the Coalition!

Category: Employment

The Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence (formerly the King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence) is seeking a Transformative Justice & Prevention Coordinator to coordinate activities and initiatives focused on community engagement in the response to and prevention of gender-based violence, including promoting alternatives to criminalization and incarceration and mitigating their effects on survivors and communities.

There is increasing awareness among advocates working to respond to and prevent domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking about the negative consequences of anti-violence strategies that rely on arrest, prosecution, and incarceration, especially for marginalized individuals and communities. Increasingly, both community-based and criminal legal agencies in the Seattle/King County region are developing and testing programs that incorporate restorative justice, transformative justice, and community engagement and accountability principles and strategies. However, there are also major areas of disagreement and/or ambivalence about these different approaches, and how policy and practice should be changed. The Transformative Justice & Prevention Coordinator will track related local programs and projects, and facilitate opportunities for Coalition members to share information about, discuss, and promote policy and practices that and promote justice, equity, survivor self-determination, and accountability for people who engage in violent and abusive behavior.
