Victim Advocate Position/ Protection Order Advocacy Program

Criminal Division/Maleng Regional Justice Center

Salary:  Range 48–$27.0347 hourly (Step 1) – $34.3315 hourly (Step 10)*

Location: Maleng Regional Justice Center, 401 4th Avenue N. Kent, WA 98032. Note:  This position is being filled to cover an immediate staffing need.  This position could change into a shared “floater” position between the Kent and Seattle offices at a later date.

Responsibilities: This position provides advocacy for petitioners who seek domestic violence orders for protection to include: intake and interviews with petitioners; support and assistance in completing forms; general information dissemination; accompaniment to court; referral to social service providers; provision of appropriate support and intervention.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to collection and maintenance of data.

Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of civil or criminal justice system and experience in field of domestic violence services required.  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with persons in crisis.  Demonstrated ability to work within and across systems and demonstrated ability to multi-task and problem solve with quick deadlines are a priority.  Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing required.  Knowledge of and experience in counseling, crisis intervention techniques required. Ability to demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance are required. Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling and/or action/discipline.    Masters level in Social Work or related field preferred; experience may substitute for formal education.  Bilingual candidates and candidates with experience serving LGBT survivors are strongly encouraged to apply.
